Archiving/Indexing Submissions  (South Africa)

Hi

I think the helferlein form module is great. It's really helping us a lot. I just want to find out something.

I installed the form in Dotnetnuke. In the form settings you can choose for how long a submission must be displayed after it has been approved. We don't want to delete any of the submissions and want to keep them all for display on our website.

What worries me is that if we receive a lot of submissions, there will be to many information in one place. Is it possible to archive/index all the submissions? For example if we have a 100 submissions, we want to devide them into 10 pages, with each page displaying 10 submissions.

I thought an other option would be to manually put all our users submissions into basic text/html modules and archiving/indexing them manually, but I'm just scared that we may get a lot of users and we wont be able to manage all the submissions manually.

Please help.

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

the setting "Keep for (days)" only affects the time to display the submission on the public control (above or below the form). As long as you do not delete the submission, it will be available from the database in the "Edit Submissions" control (which is only viewable for an administrator or a user who has editing rights on the module). If you set "Display submissions" to "Not at all", this setting (Keep for days) is ignored.

So - don't worry.

Best wishes
Michael

Hi Michael

Thanks for the reply.

Our plan is to display all the submissions we get publicly on our site. If we start to get a lot of submissions, does Dotnetnuke archive/index them automatically? Because you can imagine that if we get about 500 submissions each day and keep them all, there will be too many submissions on the one public page.

Or is there settings somewhere where we can archive/index all our submissions?

For example, we have 1000 submissions in total. We want to archive/index them into pages, with each page containing 15 submissions. The user can then select which page he wants to view.

Thanks for the help.

Regards

Paul

Paul,

you can use "Keep for days" to display submissions from the last x days. If you want them all to be displayed, leave this setting empty - but when you expect thousands of submissions a day, this will be very much.

You can view outdated submissions from the "Edit submissions" control, but you need editing rights for that control.

If you wish to archive the submissions, you should set "Submit by e-mail", and yrchive the mails. There is no other way.

Best wishes
Michael
