it is not so important to know how helferlein_BabelFish works - the important thing is that it wiorks. I wrote this module some time ago for a completely different project, and re-used it here, because a lot of users wanted a ML version. I first thougth that this will be something like helferlein_Form_Pro, and charge for it, but then decided to write an upgrade path and leave it for free.
As I do not (yet) distribute the BabelFish module as a localization component for developers, I do not write any documentation (yet). And my plans to do have a very low priority. When you look at the directory, you will find some controls that I used in different projects (and that are quite helpful). Otherwise it works a bit like effority Ealo.
So: Just install it, and then install helferlein_Form 02.00.00. If you have a multi lingual portal, you can set up a multi lingual form - that's all.
Pier: As helferlein_BabelFish is a different module, you have to pay 20 Euros for the source - and this only once. You may also download any future version then (even if I do not complain about any future donations as well).
